New Music

The music currently playing on my website is the old standard "September in the Rain" sung by the incredibly talented Glasgow saxophonist/singer Lucy Kerr.

I photographed Lucy today at the stylish restaurant/bar West on Glasgow Green. Her effortless Jazz is amazing. She was accompanied on p
iano by the exceptional Euan Stevenson. Both Lucy and Euan are available for weddings; together or on their own.

This is my favourite image from this afternoon. Lucy was putting her sax back on the stand when I noticed her reflection in the piano just in front of her.

Home Coming Scotland 2009

This is the year of Home Coming Scotland 2009 and as the wedding season gets into full swing I want to send my best wishes to everyone coming back home to Scotland for their wedding. A high portion of my wedding bookings are from brides and grooms who no longer live in Scotland and I know how special it is for them to come back home for their wedding. Well this year (being the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns) will be that bit more special.

Photography Exhibition : Glasgow

Looking Up : Glasgow Heritage Trust

Glasgow Heritage Trust have a "worth a visit" photographic exhibition on at the moment. Pupils from four schools across the city (Hyndland Secondary School, Shawlands Academy, St Aloysius' College and St Mungo's Academy) have captured Glasgow's buildings in a way that shows how the City’s architectural landscape is so unique. Well the bits that Glasgow City Council Planning Department have left well alone. Here's a link link

100 Portraits : Matthew Boyle

Matthew has come up with one of those "I wish I'd thought of that" ideas. He photographed 100 people in or around Glasgow. Nothing unusual there. The clever bit is that each person chose the next one to be photographed; therefore Matthew had no control over the chain. And talking of chains here's a link

Professional Photographer of the Year 2008

At long last Professional Photographer magazine (IMO one of the last serious photography magazines and (IMO) hanging in there by a thread) has announced a shortlist for their PPOTY08 award. Winners will be printed in the April edition.

Making it into the shortlist is John Balkie and Sandra Parris; two of the very best wedding and portrait photographers, based here in Scotland. Please take a look at their striking images in the wedding and portrait sections. Good luck you two.

BTW my new landline number is 0141 810 4052. As the move continues I'm a little behind with my work, but we're nearly there.

We Are Moving

Next Monday, March 1st 2009, we'll be moving to a new location. At the moment I do not have the new telephone number so please use my mobile number (07899 804600). I'll post the new landline number on my website just as soon as we are connected.

We are moving back towards Glasgow. This is an exciting new development and I hope the location will be more accessible to more of my clients. My photography tuition continues to grow in popularity and after the move I will be holding courses in the conference facilities over in the xScape complex at Braehead. More details to follow.

I will be continuing with the ever popular pre wedding shoots and will be holding these in Pollok Park and the Glasgow Science Centre. These are shoot locations I used several years ago, so it will be good to revisit them.

Speak soon.
