Art Exhibition : Edinburgh

Auld Reekie : Jamie Primose

Edinburgh I love. Monochrome ink drawings I love. Monochrome indian ink drawings of Edinburgh I adore. Jamie Primose has such an exhibition on at the Dundas Street Gallery in Edinburgh.

He layers delicate shadowed images of the Old Town, Southside, Marchmont and the Meadows in a timeless journey of contempory art. Jamie has many sell-out collections to his name; you really must see this exhibition. Here's a link for an on line gallery of Jamie's images : link

Edvard Munch Prints : Hunterian Art Gallery

My favourite Glasgow Art Gallery is The Hunterian at The University of Glasgow. Starting tomorrow they are exhibiting prints by Edvard Munch. This is the most substantial Munch print exhibition in the UK for over 35 years. The exhibition includes a lithograph version of the iconic The Scream; other works include the controversial lithograph Madonna, the striking Self-portrait lithograph and the atmospheric woodcut Melancholy.

Art Exhibition : Glasgow

Impressionism and Scotland

This exhibition has nothing to do with Jonathan Watson. It is, in fact, the same exhibition that failed to impress The Daily Telegraph when it was on in Edinburgh.

On display will be some of the greats: Manet, Monet, Pissarro, Degas, Whistler, Cezanne and Matisse and the Scots they inspired, including the Glasgow Boys and the Scottish Colourists.

I love Impressionism as much as I admire the Infantile School of Art. Believe what you read or believe what you see.

Art Exhibition : Glasgow

Gorbals Boys : Liz Peden

On the corner of Cumberland Street and Queen Elizabeth Gardens a new public artwork based on the iconic photograph by Oscar Marzaroli has been unveiled. The artwork is three separate sculptures of three boys in their mother's high heels playing in the street.

Italian-born "Scottish" photographer Marzaroli is most famous for his 1960's images of the Gorbals; however outside of Scotland he seems to be largely ignored. Here's a link to the story..link

The sculptures are part of the Gorbals Arts Project
